Southern Tomato Gravy is a breakfast gravy made with fat, flour, chicken broth, and tomatoes, often served over biscuits.

Southern Tomato gravy goes great over biscuits, or scrambled eggs. I love it so much I often add it to grits or rice. One you try this savory tomato gravy you will want to make it again and again.


Tomato Gravy can be made with fresh tomatoes out the garden or a store bought can of diced tomatoes.

Instructions:

  1. Heat bacon grease in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Whisk flour into bacon grease. Cook until golden brown. (If flour begins to stick to the pan add a few drops of chicken broth.
  3. Whisk remaining chicken broth in. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Mix tomatoes in. Bring to a simmer.
