Squash is a popular summer vegetable, that many people grow in their gardens. Every year my dad plants a big garden with tomatoes and squash. We end up so much squash, that we try to make as many dishes as we can before the squash goes bad. Fried Squash is one of our favorite squash dishes.

Fried Squash is simple to cook, and all the ingredients are pantry staples. Cook a batch of these delicious southern fried squash for an appetizer, side dish, or just a snack.

How to make Fried Squash:

Step 1:

Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. The amount of oil will depend on the size of your pan.

Step 2:

Whisk milk and egg together in a small bowl. Combine flour, cornmeal, and salt in a shallow bowl or a plate.

Step 3:

Dip each squash slice into egg mixture, then dredge in flour mixture to coat.

Step 4:

Fry coated squash slices in hot oil, a few at a time, until golden brown on both sides.

  • ½ cup corn meal
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • ½ cup milk

  4. Fry coated squash slices in hot oil, a few at a time, until golden brown on both sides (usually about 1-2 minutes per side.)
