Southern Cornbread dressing is a holiday classic. It is a popular side dish that is often served alongside Turkey and Ham for Thanksgiving. Southern Cornbread dressing has been a southern favorite for many generations.

Differences between dressing and stuffing.


Dressing is the southern version of stuffing, but there is a big difference in the two. Dressing is made from cornbread, where stuffing is made from stale bread. Both recipes have very similar ingredients.

  1. Preheat oven to 425 f. Crumble cornbread into a 9×13 baking pan. Add chopped onions and celery.
  2. Add chopped eggs, shredded chicken, sage, salt and pepper. Combine. 
  3. Add chicken broth and cream of chicken soup. Stir all ingredients together. Dressing should be soupy.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes or until you are liking. The longer your bake time the dryer the dressing will be. Shorter bake times will leave dressing moist.
