Meatloaf is one of those recipes you either love it or hate it. I know so many that don’t like it, because they believe it is just ground beef and ketchup. Meatloaf has many variations. They key to a good meatloaf is using the right ingredients to give your meatloaf the perfect taste.
I love a good meatloaf, my husband and kids not so much. They are very picky when it comes to their meatloaf. I have tried many different recipes, but this has become my go-to, because my family enjoys it so much.

What is mozzarella stuffed meatloaf?

Mozzarella stuffed Meatloaf is a dish of ground meat that has been combined with other ingredients and formed into the shape of a loaf, with cheese placed in the middle, then baked. The final shape is either hand-formed on a baking tray or pan-formed by cooking it in a loaf pan. It is usually made with ground beef and spices and stuffed with cheese.

Meatloaf can be sliced like a loaf of bread to make individual portions. It can easily become dry; therefore, various techniques exist to keep the dish moist, like mixing in breadcrumbs and egg, covering it with sauce, wrapping it, or using moisture-enhancing ingredients in the mixture, such as filling it with fatty meats, rich, or vegetables.

What cheese is best for Mozzarella Stuffed Meatloaf?

You may use whatever cheese you prefer. I have tried making this meatloaf with many different kinds of cheeses such as cheddar, mozzarella, and pepper jack. I have also tried it with pre- shredded cheese, block cheese, and fresh mozzarella. My favorite meatloaf it with slice fresh mozzarella. I think it has the most amazing taste.

How to cook Mozzarella Stuffed Meatloaf:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease glass baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. (I like to use 2 loaf pans. A 9×13 will also work.)
  2. In a large mixing bowl combine ground beef, bread crumbs, basil, oregano, parsley, salt, pepper, milk, Worcestershire sauce. Knead until combined.
  3. Cover bottom of glass pan with half of the loaf. (If using loan pans this would be ¼ of the loaf in each dish) Place mozzarella slice down the center. Top with the other half of loaf sealing the edges.
  4. In a mixing bowl whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, red wine, vinegar, garlic, and salt. Pour over meatloaf.
  5. Bake in preheated over for 1 hour.

When you are combining the components for the beef combination with your hands, be careful not to overwork the mixture and stop as soon as all of the ingredients are included. It’s possible that overworking it will lead it to become dry.

How to store mozzarella stuffed meatloaf?

Leftover meatloaf should be wrapped in plastic wrap or stored in an airtight container and refrigerated up to three days. Meatloaf can be reheated in the microwave.
