Magic Cookies Bar (sometimes referred to 7-layer bars or Hello Dolly Bars) are a type of cookie bar, that has a texture of a firm cake, but softer than a cookie. They are prepared in a pan and then baked in the oven. Cookie bars are then cut into squares or rectangles.
Magic cookie bars are especially popular during holidays, but many people eat them all year and they are often sold at bake sales.

Mixing Bowl
Measuring Cup
graham cracker crumbs– You will need about 1 and a half sheet of graham crackers. You can also buy ready-made graham cracker crust to speed up the process or make your own.
butter– Butter is needed to make the graham cracker crust for the bottom layer.
semi-sweet chocolate chips-Use your favorite brand of chocolate chips or you can substitute chocolate for butterscotch chips.
sweetened condensed milk– Not to be confused with evaporated milk, Condensed milk is the magic ingredient and a must in this recipe. It is used to add sweetness, moisture, and flavor.
shredded coconut-You can use sweetened or unsweetened coconut; both will work fine.
Chopped peanuts(optional)- I do not add chopped pecans, because I prefer the magic cookie bars without them, but you add pecans, walnuts, or any other kind of nuts you prefer.
Sea Salt– Optional,
Step 1:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (176 Celsius). Spray a 9×13-inch pan with cooking nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
Step 2:
Place butter in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 60 seconds or until butter is melted. Remove from the microwave and add the graham cracker crumbs. Stir with a fork until crumbs are well moistened with butter.
Step 3:
Pour the crumbs into the prepared pan. Press them tightly into an even layer until they are firmly in the pan. (You may need to use your fingers or the bottom of a cup to press grahams crumbs firmly)
Step 4:
Pour the condensed milk evenly over the graham cracker crust. (You may need to use a spoon to spread it out evenly)
Step 5:
Add chocolate chips over the condensed milk, Top with shredded coconut.
Step 6:
Bake in preheat oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until the edges of the bars are golden brown and the coconut is slightly toasted.
Step 7:
Remove the bars from the oven and cool completely in the pan. When completely cooled, cut into squares.
Once baked and cooled, Magic Bars can be kept in an air-tight sealed container at room temperature for up to 5 days or refrigerated if you prefer.
Cookie Bars also freeze well, and will last 2 months, when frozen.
