Fried Cube Steak

These Fried Cube Steak are pan fried until they are tender in the middle with a crispy and crunchy coating on the outside. They are simple to make with just a few ingredients, budget friendly and kids will love them.

Fried Cube Steak is a southern staple, that also goes by the name of country fried steak. Cube steak is seasoned, then dipped in an egg and milk mixture, coated in flour, and then fried until golden brown and crispy.


It’s very simple to cook with just a few ingredients and cube steak an inexpensive cut of meat, making it perfect for when you need a quick, easy and affordable dinner plan.

What is Cube Steak?

Cube steak or cubed steak is a cut of beef, usually top round or top sirloin, tenderized and flattened by pounding with a meat tenderizer. The name refers to the shape of the indentations left by that process (called “cubing”).

  1. Heat oil over medium high heat in a large skillet.
  2. Combine beaten eggs and milk in a shallow dish, add flour to another shallow dish.
  3. Season the cube steak with salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic power.
  4. Dip cube steak into egg mixture, then into flour. Shake off any excessive flour.
  5. Fry cube steak for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit. (Do not overcrowd the pan, you may have to cook cube steak in batches.)
  6. Remove cube steak from pan and place on paper towels to drain excessive grease.
